Vocabulary Test

Funniest thing I’ve read in the longest time is this blog post at Motherlode. Probably because it’s so true–at least for me, right now. My favorite new word? It’s a tie:

MOMSOMNIA n. [Fr. mother + insomnia]: When a sleep-deprived mom can’t sleep despite the fact that her children are sleeping, because of either worries that said children will awaken at any moment, a desperate need for time to herself, or a sudden desire to complete random household tasks.

ORGANOMICS n. [Fr. organic + economics] organomicize: Using a combination of economics, math, chemistry, biology and whatever else one knows to decide on what organic purchases to make at the grocery store. When we were kids, our parents had it much easier. The most difficult choice they had to make when shopping was between buying the orange or cherry-flavored Kool-Aid.
