In a New York State of Mind

We spent last weekend in upstate New York. Our first stop: a Choice Hotel alongside the highway, as we headed northeast. It was R’s first stay at a hotel/motel…see the little baby in the big bed picture….

The next morning, we headed to the Rochester area to see my husband’s Great Uncle Dick, who happens to be R’s Great-Great Uncle Dick! Dick, who is 85 years old, lives with his wife, Claire, in a lovely home about a 10 minute drive from the city. We really enjoyed our visit with them, and hope to see them again soon.

R enjoyed meeting Hercules, Dick and Claire’s dog (a shih tzu, or as I like to say, a baby Ewok). Unfortunately, this picture does not fully capture Robby’s excitement seeing the puppy. My husband says we’ll get a dog soon, but I don’t know about that…

The next stop on our trip was my husband’s 15 year college reunion, and for some reason, we did not take a single photo while there. We had a great time, though… the husband caught up with old friends, and R (class of 2029?) and I got to see where his dad spent four important years of his life. We also heard a very interesting talk by Bob Woodruff (an alum), visited my husband’s former fraternity house (now a residence for student leaders), and we heard stories about the husband back in the good ‘ol days….
