What’s a Zwieback?

R has taken to eating solids sooooo well! He loves peas and was thrilled tonight when sweet potatoes were offered for the first time (he doesn’t seem to like oatmeal very much, though). We are discovering that an almost seven month old learning to eat is messy work…who knew peas could make their way into so many creaks and crevices?

Last night, we introduced another new food: the teething biscuit (or, as my mother and mother-in-law call it, a zwieback). The one we gave R was pretty good (something organic from Whole Foods), and he loved it.

He, as you can see from the first picture, went to town. He was covered in this kind of “baby slime” (saliva and biscuit) and had this look like “Do they know I have this??!” He sucked and chewed (he does have two little teeth) until the biscuit fell apart, and we took it away. He, as you can see from the second picture, didn’t like that very much.

I have a feeling getting R to try new foods shouldn’t be a problem!
