We did it.
We were still 10 days away from when the pediatrician recommended we start giving R solid food, but as I sat there eating dinner tonight, R was staring at my granola (the family chef had the night off) with a look of such intense interest that we took a jump on the “wait ’til he’s 6 months old” advice, and gave R some rice cereal mixed with breastmilk.
And, yes, he loved it. I mean, really loved it. He opened his little mouth, with those adorable little teeth glistening in the kitchen light, and chomped down on the spoon, swallowing his first (and second, and third, and….) taste of food beyond what the Chef Mom produces. He squealed, he “asked” for more in his adorable baby talk, and naturally, he wore half of his meal.
And, to give credit where credit is due….Yes, Mom/Grandma, you were right: he was thrilled to try solids!
